CONSUMER AFFAIRS, Call of Chair, Room B-31, Main Capitol

  • HB 906 (Rep. Mike Reese, R-Fayette/Westmoreland): Adds “government agencies” to the list of specifically enumerated third parties where customer consent is required in order for an electric distribution company to provide access to customer meters and meter data.
  • HB 1607 (Rep. Matt Baker, R-Bradford/Tioga): Transfers enforcement authority of the Underground Utility Line Protection Law from the Department of Labor and Industry to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and makes other changes.

 

Session

On Monday, the House will convene at 1 p.m. for legislative business. The members will vote the uncontested calendar and Rule 35 resolutions.

  • HB 1782 (Rep. Jeffrey Pyle, R-Armstrong/Indiana): Bridge designation: Freeport Firemen’s Bridge.
  • HB 1794 (Rep. Kurt Masser, R-Columbia/Montour/Northumberland): Highway naming: Veterans Highway.
  • HB 1796 (Rep. Todd Stephens, R-Montgomery): Prohibits municipal ordinances from penalizing a resident or landlord for needing police or emergency assistance at their property.
  • SB 29 (Sen. Patricia Vance, R-Cumberland/York): Requires health care providers to immediately report to the county agency newborns identified as being affected by an illegal substance and requires the county agency, upon receiving the report, to do a safety or risk assessment to determine whether the child is in need of protective services.
  • SB 437 (Sen. Mike Folmer, R-Berks/Chester/Dauphin/Lancaster/Lebanon): Creates a Pennsylvania military science teaching certificate.
  • SB 681 (Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, R-Bucks/Montgomery): Allows a court to issue protection orders to victims of sexual violence.

  • HB 1411 (Rep. Jim Christiana, R-Beaver): Establishes a searchable, public Internet website detailing the revenues and expenditures of school districts.
  • HB 1741 (Rep. Fred Keller, R-Snyder/Union): Requires school boards to provide at least 48 hours’ notice prior to voting upon any proposed collective bargaining agreement or upon any proposed employment contract for a professional educator who is not a member of an employee organization.
  • HB 1816 (Rep. Mike Tobash, R-Berks/Schuylkill): Allows educators an opportunity to receive credit toward their continuing professional education development requirements by attending school board-approved site visits to manufacturing locations for orientation and industry demonstrations.
  • HB 1878 (Rep. Eli Evankovich, R-Armstrong/Westmoreland): Establishes the PA Workforce Investment Strategy – “PA WinS.”
  • HR 537 (Rep. Glen Grell, R-Cumberland): Encourages support and recognition of ChildFirst PA.
  • SB 689 (Sen. Jake Corman, R-Centre/Juniata/Mifflin/Perry/Union): Enacts the Uniform Child Abduction Prevention Act.

  • SB 1181 (Sen. Elder Vogel, R-Allegheny/Beaver/Lawrence): Authorizes a five million dollar transfer from the Race Horse Development Fund to the State Racing Fund.

  • SB 21 (Sen. Kim Ward, R-Westmoreland): Clarifies who is a mandatory reporter in Pennsylvania, or persons required to make a report of suspected child abuse.
  • SB 24 (Sen. Randy Vulakovich, R-Allegheny/Butler): Establishes a statewide database of protective services within the Department of Public Welfare.

  • Informational meeting on HB 1581 (Rep. Seth Grove, R-York): Creates the Cash Balance Pension Plan Act applicable to certain full-time municipal police and fire personnel hired on or after January 1, 2013.

  • HB 1808 (Rep. Kurt Masser, R-Columbia/Montour/Northumberland): Reduces the standard period from 21 years to 10 years for bringing an action for the acquisition of title through adverse possession under certain circumstances.
  • SB 497 (Sen. John Eichelberger, R-Bedford/Blair/Fulton/Huntingdon/Mifflin): Updates and re-codifies the Third Class City Code.
  • SB 703 (Sen. John Blake, D-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Monroe): Removes a three-year time limit within which members of the Scranton Police and Fire pension systems must begin working for the city in order to be eligible for purchasing credit for time spent in the armed forces.
