Toepel Announces $103,825 in School Safety Funding to Area School Districts

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) announced today that four school districts in the 147nd Legislative District have been awarded $103,825 in Safe Schools Target Grants, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

The grants are awarded to schools to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment, and to provide for the training and compensation of school resource and police officers.

The following school districts received funding:

  • Pottsgrove School District - $24,744 equipment grant and $20,000 program grant.
  • Perkiomen Valley School District - $24,996 equipment grant.
  • Upper Perkiomen School District - $24,998 equipment grant.
  • Souderton Area School District - $9,087 equipment grant.

“I’m thankful some of our local schools were selected to receive this important funding,” said Toepel. “These grants will enable the schools to purchase needed equipment and improve programming to create a safer environment in which students can learn and teachers can teach.”

The Safe Schools Targeted Grant Program is separate from the School Safety and Security Grant Program created by the Legislature in 2018 and administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
