House State Government Committee to Hold Hearings on COVID-19 Policy

HARRISBURG – As the anniversary of the Wolf administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic nears, House State Government Committee Chairman Seth Grove (R-York) announced today the committee will hold a series of hearings on how the administration addressed the pandemic.

“Because Gov. Tom Wolf, under the clock of Declaration of Emergency powers, acted unilaterally to formulate a statewide response to the pandemic, there was little to no opportunity to provide oversight on his actions when he sidestepped the Legislature,” Grove said. “Using our Legislature powers as a co-equal branch of government, we will take a deeper look into the governor’s polices and how it impacted the people of the Commonwealth.”

The hearings will kick off Monday, March 9, with a look at transparency issues within the administration. In the early months of the pandemic, the Wolf administration stopped answering Right-to-Know Requests, leaving residents and news reporters unable to obtain basic information, which put millions of Pennsylvanians in the dark. The hearing will be held in room G-50 of the Irvis Office Building in the Capitol Complex. Below is a complete list of hearing topics and dates:

  • Lack of government transparency and RTKs during COVID-19 on March 9 at 1 p.m.
  • Government telework policies and data during COVID-19 on March 15 at 9 a.m.
  • Agency regulatory/statutory suspensions and innovation due to COVID-19 on March 22 at 9 a.m.
  • PPE procurement, storage and distribution on March 29 at 1 p.m.

All hearings will be livestreamed at www.RepGrove.com and www.PAHouseGOP.com.
